In order to help properly secure your account and our systems, we are requiring multifactor authentication. This means you must use a second method, along with your password, to sign in when off-campus.
Our recommendation is to use the Microsoft Authenticator app, which lets you accept a prompt on your mobile device to sign in.
Step 1: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App
- On your mobile device, open the app store (Google Play Store for Android or Apple App Store for iOS).
- Search for "Microsoft Authenticator." Please make sure the app you are downloading is exactly named "Microsoft Authenticator".
- Locate the app and tap "Install" or "Get" to download and install it on your device.
Step 2: Set up the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- If prompted, allow notifications.
- Tap "Add account" from the Customize and control icon (three vertical dots) in the upper-right corner.
- Select "Work or school account".
- Allow camera access when prompted. (this is required to scan the QR code)
Step 3: Activate Multifactor Authentication
- Sign into the Student portal, Canvas, or your Hallmark email.
- Follow the Keep your account secure wizard, which will prompt you to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Click "Download now" to confirm you've downloaded the app, and then click "Next".
- On the Set up your account page, keep it open on your computer while setting up the app on your mobile device.
- Return to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- Scan the QR code provided on the Set up your account page using the app's QR code reader. If you cannot scan the code, manually enter the code and URL into the app.
- Click "Next" on the "Scan the QR code" page on your computer. A notification will be sent to your mobile device to test your account.
- Approve the notification in the Microsoft Authenticator app, then click "Next" in the Microsoft 365 wizard.
Step 4: Review and Finish
- Review the success notification and click "Done".
- On the Success page, verify that you've successfully set up both the Microsoft Authenticator app and the phone number for your security info, and then click "Done".
